From Incas to Amazons

Vibrantly coloured parrots, magnificent rainforests and the Inca culture, including Machu Picchu, are passed in revue. Machu Picchu is the Inca city par excellence, which escaped detection by the Spanish and hence was never destroyed. Many traces of the Inca civilization can still be found in Machu Picchu, which means Old Peak. The city of Machu Picchu perches between two jagged peaks at an elevation of approximately 2350 metres in the Cuzco region of Peru. The Incas reached the city by following a steep path that made it difficult to reach, as the hike lasted for several days. Nowadays it is also possible to reach Machi Picchu by train or bus. During this presentation the camera is primarily focused on the mysterious rainforest. According to experts, Manu National Park and the Tambopata Research Center are two of the richest ecosystems in the world. Within the sodden rainforest the camera concentrates on the miniature miracles of nature, including poison dart frogs and vibrantly-coloured tropical birds such as parrots.
