Jan is regularly requested to give presentations about his work. He recounts vivid tales about his photos and experiences during his journeys. The presentations usually last between an hour and a half and two hours, including a break. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and, if necessary, Jan can go more deeply into the technical aspects of photography.
Why Polar bears don't eat penguins
This presentation will whisk you off to the icy regions of Antarctica and the Arctic. Over the past few years Jan has undertaken frequent and long voyages to Antarctica and Arctic regions including Greenland, Norway, Iceland, Spitsbergen and Russia. The Russian adventure was particularly special. The last time that this voyage to the North East Passage was organized was eight years ago and until now only 800 modern-day travellers have set sail on this notorious route. As on his earlier voyages to Antarctica, the famous icebreaker Kapitan Khlebnikov was entrusted with covering the 9,500-plus-kilometre voyage over a period of four weeks.

This captivating presentation focuses plenty of attention on animal life in the North and South Poles. Subjects include a polar bear that has just caught a seal weighing in at 350 kilos; walruses sporting their characteristic whiskers; and last but not least the endearing emperor penguins. The latter have become particularly well-known thanks to films such as March of the Penguins and Happy Feet.
This evening presentation lasts for approximately an hour and a half to two hours and is usually interrupted by a break.
