Dear Fellow Travellers |
This is my first international newsletter. I thought it would be a great opportunity to keep my Fellow Travellers informed of what's happening in my life as a Dutch Wildlife Photographer and to keep you up to date on all the latest news and ideal travelling destinations. Last year my travels took me mainly to the Polar Regions. I was probably in your company on trips to Spitsbergen, Antarctica, Nova Zembla, Canada etc. My work base is in the Netherlands, in the city of Apeldoorn. It is in the east side of the Netherlands (Holland) approximately one hour from Amsterdam.
I have recently launched a new website in both the Dutch and English languages and would be delighted if you would take a look for yourselves www.janvermeer.nl. I would welcome your comments. |
Books |
Since I returned from my epic journey's to the Polar Regions I have had two beautiful large books published, the first is entitled Antarctica and the second is entitled Arctic. If you were to look through the wonderful lifelike pictures in these books you will certainly recognise some of the places you have also been. The books are published in both Dutch and English editions. They are made of approximately 200 pages of high quality paper with 140 stunning photographs in the Antarctica book and another 156 equally stunning photographs in the Arctic book. Because of the high quality of paper the books weight approximately 8.8 pounds or 141 ounces. The written descriptions in the books tell about former artists and the expeditions made to each of the Polar Regions. These wonderful classic books that will spark interest in peoples of all ages, cultures and languages are available by www.amazon.com click for Antarctica and for Arctic. |
Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2009 |
I was also one of a number of artists who recently won a prestigious award in the 'Wildlife Photographer of the Year' competition 2009 which was organised by the British Natural History Museum in London. My photograph for this award is perhaps one of my best and most unique photographs to date of a Flying Puffin. This photograph also featured in the October 2008 issue of the National Geographic Magazine and as a result has sparked a lot of world wide interest in my work. This particular photograph is exceptional because one had never before been taken of the Puffin flying in snowy weather conditions. It retails worldwide in a high quality poster in size 60 x 80 cm (23.6 inches x 31.5 inches) at the competitive price of 15.00 Euros per poster, excluding mailing costs which may differ depending on the destination country.
