Baby boom in Apenheul
In Apenheul, the Monkey zoo in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, there are born 5 gorilla baby's this year. This is a world record. I photograph the gorillas since 1993 when I started photographing all the monkeys of Apenheul. Since Bongo the leader passed away sudenly in 2005 a new silverback was introduced the group increased a lot by bringing young animals to other zoo's . Because new leaders of a gorilla group do something what people do not like. Now the new silverback has a good position and are there 5 kids in one year. Of course I go on following them in the next years. At teh moment I make close-ups of the gorillababy's.
